How do I Create a Custom Vintage Story World

With Vintage Story, creating a custom world is much easier to do on your computer and then upload it to the server than it is to manually edit the server config file to get it just right.

1. Open Vintage Story
2. Click Single Player
3. Select Create New World
4. Choose a Preset or Customize the World
5. Choose Create World
6. Exit Vintage Story after the world is created
7. Open File Explorer in Windows
8. Input %appdata%\VintagestoryData\Savesin the navigation bar and hit enter
9. Upload your .vcdbs file to data\Saves on your server
10. Open Game Config or the config file directly in Files at data/serverconfig.json
11. Find SaveFileLocation and then update it with the name of your uploaded world file for example ./data/Saves/hastiis village tales.vcdbs

You can also rename your world to default.vcdbs and not update this config file

12. Save your changes
13. Start your server to load your new world
