How do I ban or unban players on my Rust server?

Rust has a variety of commands designed to help you manage problematic players by banning or unbanning them. These commands can be run through the server console or as an admin in the game.

You’ll need either their SteamID or username to ban a player. If you ban them with a username, the player must be online on the server. If you need to find their SteamID, we have a guide on how to do that here.

Ban/Unban Commands

The following are the commands that will ban or unban a player. Note that you can only unban a player through their SteamID

/banid <steamID> [optional_reason]Bans a user via their SteamID
/banid <username> [optional_reason]Finds the SteamID of the connected user and bans them
/unban <steamID>Unbans a user via their SteamID
/banlistexDisplays a list of currently banned users alongside the reason (if it was set)
